Ego Dissolution

ego dissolution

“I” am foolish, blind, and small,
Stumbling, lost, through Maya’s thrall.
No wisdom mine, no strength, no might,
I seek Your Sanctuary, Eternal Light.

Be Merciful, Lord, hear my plea,
Dissolve this shadow, let me be free.
Unite “me” in the Ocean of You,
Where drops return, their Source renew.

Merge “me,” lose me in Your flame,
Erase the ego, the fleeting name.
At dust of Your lotus feet I bow,
Nothing remains — only You, here and now.

Like rivers running, I yearn to flow,
Back to the Source all waters know.
Beyond the stars, beyond the skies,
Where Truth alone forever lies.

No temple built of stone or clay,
Can hold the Light that guides my way.
Your Word, Your Shabd, the cosmic song,
Has pulled this fragile soul along.

O Flame of flames, O Breath of breath,
O Lord of life, O Lord of death,
I beg to vanish, to be undone,
To see no “two,” to know the One.

All Masters whisper, all saints proclaim,
There’s but one Lord with many a Name.
Christ, Krishna, Allah, Nanak’s call,
One Current of Love that flows through all.

So crush this ego, break its chain,
Let only Your fragrance here remain.
“My” heart dissolves, “my” voice is gone,
What sings through “me” is You alone.

And when this prayer ascends above,
It rains back down as showers of Love.
For “I” am nothing, “I” am dust,
But You are the Flame, eternal and just.
