When it pleases You, my lips recite,
Your Holy Name, O Lord of Light.
No effort of mine, no striving release,
For only You can grant me peace.
I am a sacrifice, my soul does implore,
To that most blessed, sacred door.
The moment I came, with trembling heart,
Was the moment illusions began to part.
The Tenth Gate shines, Daswan Dwar,
Beyond the mind, beyond the star.
But keys to that chamber are not my own,
They rest in the hand of You alone.
Your glance of mercy, Your tender will,
Can silence the storm, the hunger still.
My striving ends, my ego falls,
Your Grace alone my spirit calls.
I bow, I wait, I yearn, I pray,
For You to guide this soul’s lost way.
When it pleases You, I chant, I sing,
In awe of the Door where angels cling.
O Keeper of gates, O Flame Divine,
Without Your wish, no step is mine.
Yet blessed the hour, O Love so true,
When the Door opens wide—and I merge in You.
